Kristen E. Pope is a Jackson, Wyoming-based freelance writer and editor who specializes in science, conservation, and outdoor adventure writing. Her work has appeared in Backpacker, Discover, Western Confluence, Roots Rated, The Penny Hoarder, The Write Life, Beer Advocate, Northwest Travel, Produce Business, Planning Magazine, International Journal of Wilderness, Student Health 101, Mountain Outlaw, and Dishing, among other publications.
She is also the managing editor of JHStyle Magazine and the author of Jackson Hole Winter Guide.
Before delving into the writing life, she worked in Denali National Park (Alaska) as a living history interpreter and worked as a science educator in museums and state parks throughout the country. She even coaxed reluctant insect-lovers to pet Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Kristen also has a master’s degree in Natural Resources from Humboldt State University on California’s redwood coast.
